Way back in 2000, the USA Olympic Baseball Team won the Gold in Sydney. Their starter for the semi-final game was a AA pitcher for the Round Rock Express, Roy Oswalt. 9 years later, Oswalt is one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball and is now given a start in the WBC semi-finals against Japan.

Since his likely opponent is Daisuke Matsuzaka, who also dominate international play, it’s hard to say who will win. But if the USA needs a pitcher to win a game, Oswalt is the man to do it.

Update: Venezuela chose to send out Carlos Silva who, as many Mariner fans know, sucks, against Korea. They are now down 5-0. In single elimination games, everything you do is for the very next game.
